About The Event

Pete Seeger’s Influence, and Why It Still Matters

It’s hard to talk about folk music without talking about Pete Seeger.

Not because he was the only one doing it, but because he understood something essential. He knew that songs were not meant to sit on a stage. They were meant to move through a room, from one person to another.

He took old songs and gave them new life. He wrote songs that spoke to the moment. Civil rights. Peace. The environment. But he never treated them like speeches. He treated them like something people could carry with them.

That was his gift.

He believed that if you put a simple, honest song in front of people, they would make it their own. And when they did, something changed. Not just in the concert, but sometimes beyond it.
