One of the things I’m paying close attention to this year at Wesley’s Place is how a night feels from start to finish. Not just the music, but the welcome, the pacing, the way the room settles in and listens together.
We saw that clearly at our recent Buddy Mondlock show. We had a big crowd, people really listened, and the night unfolded in a way that felt easy and connected. It confirmed something important for me. People like the room, they like how these evenings are set up, and they want to come back.
That brings me to Lil Rev, who will be at Wesley’s Place on Friday, March 6.
Lil Rev is a multi-instrumentalist, storyteller, and one of the most engaging performers you can put in front of an audience. He moves between harmonica, ukulele, guitar, and songs that are full of humor, heart, and deep roots knowledge. His shows are lively without being loud, joyful without being careless, and perfect for a listening room that knows how to have fun.
This night will also be hosted by Mark Dvorak, who will be back again after hosting Buddy’s show. Mark opens the evening with a few songs, welcomes everyone into the room, and helps establish that shared listening space before the featured artist takes over. It’s a simple thing, but it makes a big difference.
Mark and Lil' Rev also happen to be longtime friends. They share history, mutual respect, and a deep love of the music they play. That relationship adds another layer to the night. It’s not just a booking. It’s part of a larger musical conversation.
What we’re building at Wesley’s Place is a long-term series of nights like this. Thoughtfully hosted. Carefully chosen artists. A room that listens. Lil Rev on March 6 is the next step in that story, and I hope you’ll come be part of it.
